The Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, has invented a ventilator with pulse system, capable of dictating and providing life support to patients of COVID-19.
Dr. Abbdullahi Alhassan Ahmed, Rector of the institution, made this disclosure to journalists, shortly after assessing facilities in the polytechnic, in Nasarawa local government area of the state, Tuesday.
According to the Rector, the institution felt the need to invent the ventilator and other COVID-19 protective equipment in preparation for school reopening, to ensure the safety of students.
Ahmed disclosed that the institution has also invented a Disinfectant tunnel mechanically operated, mass produced hand sanitizers, face masks and hand washing machine in line with the COVID-19 pandemic protocols.
“We have mass produced hand washing machines with special features to dispense hand sanitizer, build a standard isolation centre in readiness of an outbreak of COVID-19 or any other disease in the school,” he stated.
“As you can see the school is well prepared for students resumption, with what we have on ground to curtail sudden outbreak of COVID-19 or any other disease” he added.
The Rector said that , the mass produced protective equipment needed to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus will be distributed to various departments so that the students can protect themselves from contracting the virus.
He also revealed that the polytechnic produced a 10 KVA solar car park with 9,600 mega watts powered by 10 kilo watts inverter to energize the electrical, electronics department for effective and efficiency of the department among others.
Adamu commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the support given to the institution, also noting that without the support of the Minister of Education, team work of the institution’s governing council, the project wouldn’t have been successful.
