Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has tested positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19)
The governor disclosed this in a statement he personally signed on Saturday, noting that some of his aides whose samples were collected alongside his own also tested positive.
Prompt News recalls that Umahi, had on Thursday registered his readiness to hand over office to his deputy and work from home should he test positive, adding that the deputy shall conduct a public hearing in his absence, when he said:
“If I test positive, my deputy will carry on with the fight as a front line worker and we will now work from home. We will be extremely careful and use zoom to do our jobs and we must do our job, no retreat, no surrender. We will fight this COVID-19 matter to the end.
“Next week, we will have a public hearing on the proposal of our fight against COVID. Either me or the deputy governor will host that meeting; if I test positive, he will do it,” the governor had said.
The statement did not however disclose names of the aides that tested positive.
