A resident of Aniekwena street in Abakaliki metropolis, Mr. Charles Nnanna, whose nine (9) months old baby was rescued from kidnappers has called on the police to prosecute three of the kidnappers that were arrested and handed over to them.
Nnanna narrated how his baby was kidnapped but eventually rescued.
According to him, “On Sunday, unknown persons came into my house around 1:30 in the afternoon and took my little daughter of nine months and ran away. They blew their guns and afterwards hurried away. I followed them with my vehicle.
“Along the line, they threw away the little child on the main road, though the baby sustained injuries but with the help of some kind hearted people joined in the pursuit, we were able to catch three out of them, the rest ran away.”
Mr. Nnanna noted that one of the Kidnappers is a lady and they are in police custody where an investigation is ongoing.
“They were five in number, only four came in while the other one remained outside with bike.
“One of the them is a lady whom they handed over the child while they were in the keke but she is one of those we caught and we have handed them over to the police.”
“The police are still investigating the matter. They said they will hand over the case to the Commissioner of police today and nothing yet done, we are still waiting for them,” he explained
He called on the state government to improve the security situation in the state.
His words, “The security level in the state is low because before the police could arrive the scene that day, it was too late. It was just with the help of people that we were able to catch some of them who came to kidnap my baby.”
