The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Rt.Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for signing an Executive order for the implementation of financial autonomy of state Houses of Assembly and Judiciary.
The speaker who doubles as the National Vice Chairman North Central,Nigeria Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures gave this commendation k Lafia, while reacting to the new financial autonomy order by President Muhammadu Buhari recently.
Balarabe explained that granting of the financial autonomy to the state legislature and judiciary will give them the opportunity to harness their full potential as well as give them room to carry out their constitutional duties effectively.
He stated that “it will go a long way in enhancing legislative and judicial activities, effective service delivery good governance, and enhance the functions of the institutions for good governance and accountability”.
The speaker commended the President over the step he has taken towards strengthening democracy in the country.
“The president has further demonstrated that he is a democrat who has the interest of the country at heart,it is in view of this that I want to sincerely commend him for this wonderful gesture and proactive step taken”.
Balarabe emphasized the assembly’s commitment to continue to partner with the executive arm in order to ensure speedy development in Nasarawa state.
Recall that on Friday, May 22 , 2020, President Muhhammadu Buhari had signed into law Executive Order No. 10 of 2020 for the implementation of Financial Autonomy of State Legislature and State judiciary. This was revealed in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr. Umar Gwandu.
