Lockdown, Stay@Home, or any name that connotes restrain or restriction is an added advantage in this year’s Ramadan.
The reason is not far fetched. To witness a Ramadan where all the pluses of having your Parents and other siblings, uncles and aunties on ground at home bonding, not only that, observing Ramadan in a participatory manner with the parent as lead participant or lead actor if you like! Remember am writing on or about our children, yes, your child.
Taking advantage that we’re all lockdown courtesy #COVID-19, this year’s Ramadan is an opportunity to not only bond with the family, special interest of the children is a major factor in the Fasting regime.
Our model, Muhammad s.a.w is the totality of learning and teaching. He s.a.w. passed through all phases of life and lived with his family. His teaching to the spiritual development of all family members is simple and adaptable. It’s the adaptation of it that makes our fore parents device a strategy of Fasting for the underage.
We need to know that the underage should be made to be aware that Ramadan is a special period in a Muslim life. They should be encouraged to participate in Sahur preparation, eat Sahur with us and get them into the frame of mind that they too are fasting even when their Fasting is not going
the entire duration of the day!
At the Iftar, reward with extra fruits for those that woke up, or make attempt at Fasting even if not completed.
In this era of ‘scarcity’, yes, even words of praise is a reward.
Feel free to call and ask question on how further assistance could be offered to the child to feel Ramadan.
May Allah s.w.t bless our children and make them leaders among their peers.
Ramadan Mubarak
