China- based Super Falcons forward, Chinwendu Veronica Ihezuo is missing football action no thanks to the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus pandemic which forced the world to shut down everyday businesses including football.
The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup ‘Azerbaijan 2012’ Silver Boot Winner told Prompt News exclusively today (Tuesday) that she is missing football action like many other sportsmen and women who have been confined to their homes over one month now due to Covid-19 pandemic.
Ihezuo who scored 6 goals in the championship disclosed that she would have loved to be playing football as she was settling well in the Chinese top women’s football leaque before it was stopped just as she said that she cannot argue about the decision of her club on the advice of the Chinese authorities to stop the leaque.
The Henan Huishang FC star player who like many other Nigerian players abroad returned to Nigeria after the leaque was put on hold revealed that she has been involved in private training sessions to keep fit ahead of the expected resumption of football leaques across the world including China.
“Although I don’t know when the leaque will resume in China because the borders are still closed, I am working hard daily to keep fit in case the resumes soon. I do my daily indoor workout but it is not like training outdoors”, she said.
Ihezuo who also played for the national U-20 women’s football team, Falconets four years ago has become a regular face in the Super Falcons having been part of the African Women’s Cup of Nations (AWCON) Ghana 2018 winning team and part of the last FIFA Women’s World Cup ‘France 2019’ squad.
