The daily sit-out to #BringBackOurGirls will continue on Wednesday. However, due to the World Economic Forum, which starts today, the Unity Fountain – which was previously designated as the meeting point – will be cordoned off for security reasons.
In view of this, an alternative venue, Maitama Amusement Park has been chosen for Wednesday’s sit-out at 3,00pm, Rinsola Abiola, of the Media Task Team announced.
In line with the aim to ensure the safe return of all 223 abducted girls from Chibok Local Government, Borno State, the #BringBackOurGirls team earlier in the day was billed to meet with the Chief of Defense Staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh.
To ensure the realization of the objective, the team appealed “We hereby invite all patriotic Nigerians to join us as we demand the safe return of abducted girls. To signify our unity of purpose and common grief, all protesters are expected to wear red clothing.
“The #BringBackOurGirls team would also like to express profound gratitude to all those who have played a part – big and small – in demanding that the abducted girls from Chibok Local Government be rescued from their captors. We as Nigerians must continue to demand from our government regular communication on the status of work being done to bring back abducted Nigerian girls from Chibok and elsewhere, and that measures be taken to protect our children in vulnerable states in the northeast and
elsewhere from future abductions.
The support of and attention to this cause from Nigerians in the diaspora and people from all over the world has been inspiring, and only strengthens our resolve to continue the work until all our daughters and sisters are safely returned home,” Abiola stated.
