The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested a man in Egbejila Community of Ilorin West Local Government Area of Kwara for violating the total lockdown imposed on the state by the State Government.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that residents of Ilorin, the Kwara capital, fully complied with the stay-at-home order as many of the major roads and streets were deserted.
A NAN correspondent monitoring the compliance of the order reports that the man arrested was asked to seat at the back of the truck of the security operatives after he was picked up for roaming about the street.
The civil defence officers had earlier seized some perishable items from an unknown person before the arrival of the reporter at the scene.
The NSCDC officials however declined to field questions from the correspondent on the development.
The report added that the Police had impounded four trucks laden with scrap materials earlier in the day along Offa Garage Road in Ilorin metropolis.
A combined team of men and officers from NSCDC, Nigeria Immigration Service, Man ‘O’ War and the Police were seen enforcing the lockdown order.
NAN recalls that the State Government had on Thursday announced a total lockdown of vehicular, movement of people and all businesses from April 10.
The restriction order however allowed banks, pharmacies and foodstuff traders to open for business only on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays between the hours of 10 a.m and 2 p.m.
