The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), says all Primary Health Centres (PHCs), remain open to Nigerians, the lockdown as a result of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), pandemic notwithstanding.
Dr Faisal Shuaib, NPHCDA Executive Director/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), said this in a statement on Friday, in Abuja.
Shuaib said that the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country should not affect the routine services provided by the PHCs.
“Governments at the national, state and local levels have put in place measures for safe delivery of all services at the PHC centres.
“I therefore, urge parents and caregivers to continue to take their children to the closest PHCs for immunisation, growth monitoring, ante natal care, child birth and other related services delivery,” he said.
The NPHCDA executive secretary, however, advised caregivers, health workers and Nigerians at large, to obey all government guidelines on social distancing.
He also stressed the need for frequent hand washing with soap and water, and self isolation, for the duration of the COVID-19 outbreak.
