The Oye Local Government Council of Ekiti on Thursday commended health workers and security agencies for working tirelessly to ensure that residents were safe from COVID-19.
The Chairman of the council, Mr Foluso Ojo, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Oye-Ekiti.
He said that in spite of the curfew and stay at home directives by Gov. Kayode Fayemi, health workers had been busy taking care of the sick.
” To further enhance their efficiency, the local government council has provided hand sanitisers and medical kits in all the health centres in communities,” he said.
The chairman also commended the security agencies for enforcing the stay at home order by the state government.
He said that all communities in the local government abided by the directives with the help of the security agencies.
“I want to express my profound gratitude to the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, for evolving proactive measures to curb the spread of coronavirus in Ekiti.
“It was a welcome and reasonable decision in order protect the lives of our people.
The council boss, however, urged all residents to adhere strictly to the directives of the state government in order to avoid arrest by security agencies.
