By Gracious Akujobi Edwin Okon, Super Falcons Head Coach is excited that that the team will engage the Indomitable Lioness of Cameroon in a friendly ahead of the AWC qualifier against Rwanda.
According to him, Cameroon will hopefully give the Falcons the kind of tough game they need to face Rwanda, adding that if they can win the match then, it means they can beat the Rwandans.
“I don’t really know the Rwandans well and I don’t have their dossier or the video clips of their matches but my bosses in the office have assured me they would make it available to us.
“We are taking it one step at a time. What is on our mind now is the friendly where we hope to see the players in a match situation.
“The friendly match comes next week and it is the friendly that will determine if we will need the services of foreign professionals,” Okon stated.
However, two players were decamped in line with the elimination by substitution method of coach Okon. Glory Ogbonna of Ibom Angels and Racheal Akpojortor of Nasarawa Amazons were replaced by Lilian Tule and Anam Imoh from Taraba Queens and Amarachi Okoronkwo from Nasarawa Amazons.
The new players joined the rest of the girls for the Tuesday training. Asisat Oshoala and Uchechi Sunday are also expected to join up in camp by Wednesday.
Meanwhile, team Captian Evelyn Nwabuoku and left back Gloria Ofoegbu have both expressed readiness to play the Indomitable lioness and She-Amavubi.
After Tuesday training, both players who ply their trade with Rivers Angels FC expressed delight that the team is beginning to take shape.
“I am happy with the way things are going now. The training is going on well and the girls are responding to it. I know there is room for improvement but I am glad the team is beginning to blend now” Nwabuoku said.
Ofoegbu concurred with Nwabuoku, saying “I can’t wait for the friendly and the qualifying match to come because I have a vision that this team will do well”.
