By Olusegun Lawrence Another plane crash was averted on Monday when an Abuja-bound Overland Airways plane suddenly had its wing damaged as it was approaching Niger state airspace.
On board the plane were delegates to the ongoing national conference including a former governor of Oyo state, Rasheed Adewolu Ladoja.
Mr. Ladoja, was billed to take his turn today as delegates continue debate on President Goodluck Jonathan’s inauguration speech but missed his speaking slot
The delegates were returning to Abuja to resume plenary at the ongoing national conference.
An eye witness account revealed that the Overland Airways plane with registration number 5NBPE took off from Ibadan airport but had to make a detour to Lagos when its wind shield got broken few minutes to landing in Abuja.
On hearing that the plane had problem and would be returning to Lagos for safe landing, some of the passengers fainted, the witnessed said.
However, three hours after landing safely at the Muritala Muhammed Airport, the passengers including two serving senators, Hosea Agboola from Oyo state and Gbenga Kaka, Ogun state were moved into another Overland aircraft that arrived from Enugu with registration number 5N-BPF.
Other delegates on board of the plane were a former President of NUJ, Comrade Lanre Ogundipe, a former Oyo state Information Commissioner, Gbade Lana, Demola Akinlabi, an officer in Accountant General’s office and a Federal National Population Commissioner, Abdul-Lateef Gbadamosi.
