Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Sunday Dare has disclosed that a whopping sum of N1.2 billion is required for the maintenance of the federal government-owned stadia.
This much was revealed by the minister while briefing State House Correspondents today in Abuja after the second Federal Executive Council (FEC). He said that most of the government’s stadia are in bad shape.
According to him, ” I have taken time since coming to office to visit most the Federal Government- owned stadia and they are really in bad shape. They need to be put back into use but the problem is the huge amount of money required to achieve that. We (ministry) need the sum of N1.2 billion to maintain these facilities”.
Dare however assured that the national stadia in Abuja, Kaduna, Lagos, Enugu, etc will be put back into use, pointing out that ” the ministry intends to seek for funds to embark on the repairs of the stadia without much delay”.
