The police on Friday arraigned two teenagers in an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing 25 jerrycans of palm oil valued N180,000.
The police charged Blessing Akinbunmi, a tailor and Sunday Adekuoye,a student with two counts of burglary and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp. Ayodeji Omoyeigha told the court that the defendants on Sept. around 2 a.m. at No. 19, Akingboye Street along Ayeka-Irele road in Okitipupa magisterial district conspired to commit burglary.
Omoyeigha alleged that the defendants, broke into the house of the complainant, Mrs Rake Onota and stole 25 jerrycans of palm oil valued N180,000.
The offence, he said, is punishable under sections 413 (1) and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
Chief Magistrate Dickson Ogunfuyi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N250, 000 each with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 27 for further hearing.
