Office of Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has rewarded staff who show strong commitment and dedication to their duties and responsibilities.
According to a statement by the Deputy Director (Press), Mr. Henshaw Ogubike, in Abuja on Friday, this is in line with the effort of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation to ensure the institutionalization of various welfare packages for the staff.
Speaking, the Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, Mr Ahmed Idris explained that the institutionalization of the Rewards and Recognition System in the Treasury “will establish a well-motivated, disciplined, skilled and accountable officers leading to improved staff morale, efficient service delivery, improved productivity and ultimately good governance.”
The AGF further explained that the reward was inspired to encourage members of staff who have exhibited high sense of discipline and conducts.
He urged all staff of the Treasury to take full leverage of the novel opportunity geared towards attainment of visions and missions of the Treasury House and entrench the goals of good governance of his administration.
Minister of Finance, Budget & National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed represented by Permanent Secretary, Finance Dr. Mohammed Isa-Dutse said that the award was the best incentive and motivational tools of appreciation of staff that have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties.
“To the entire recipients, it is a clarion call to do more and the best, the Treasury has been highly recognized by the President in terms of efficiency, effectiveness and economy in the management of the nation’s resources in line with the cardinal agenda of the President,” he said.
The National Coordinator of SERVICOM, Mrs. Nnenna Akajemeli stated that the Service Charter is a strategic document that communicates promises and commitments of services provided by an organization to its customers.
According to her, it is a tool for operational and performance enhancement of MDAs enshrined in the trust between service providers and service takers. Adding that there are two Charters namely ‘Integrated Charter of Office of the Accountant General’ and ‘the Local Charter’ which indicates commitment at the higher level and also guides service provision.
The Nodal Officer of SERVICOM in the Office of the OAGF, Dr. Irene Erima Ijoma reiterated that the implementation of the Reward and Recognition System in the Treasury House is expected to improve productivity as well as attract, nurture, develop and retain the best staff in the Treasury House.
“Today, there are 9 Directors and 28 other awardees for the year 2018 including the Accountant-General of the Federation Ahmed Idris, FCNA, who has shown excellent leadership and exhibited transparency, commitment and high probity in the management of the nation’s treasury. His relationship with staff is examplary and worthy of emulation”, she stated.
She added that the criteria used for qualification was based on the outline of the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation for ‘Permanent Secretary Exemplary Award PSR 150105.’
Dr. Irene also used the opportunity to present the OAGF revised Service Charter which the office has started the implementation.
Other dignitaries present at the occasion were the representatives of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Permanent Secretary Finance, and Permanent Secretary Head of Service.
