Five men were on Monday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun, for allegedly assaulting a man.
The defendants, Taiwo Oluwatola, 25; Oshun Adegbbola, 28; Oladimeji Nollah, 25; Riliwan Husman, 29; and Ibrahim Kasali, 32; whose addresses were not provided, are facing a two-count charge of assault and conspiracy.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Aug.11 at about 12.30 a.m. at Fatty K Hotel, Iyana-Iyesi, Ota, Ogun.
Mustapha alleged that the defendants conspired among themselves to assault the Complainant, Emmanuel Ishola, by beating him and also pushed him; thus he sustained a deep injury on the head.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 338 and 416 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted them N200, 000 bail each with two sureties each in like sum.
Akinyemi ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 9 for further hearing.
