Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, on Wednesday, said the state government would establish three more faculties at the Sokoto State University in 2019.
Tambuwal made this disclosure while receiving Prof. Sulaiman Bilbis, the Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University and his counterpart from Sokoto State University, Prof. Sani Dangwaggo.
The governor listed the proposed faculties to include Faculty of Medicine, Faculty of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Faculty of Environmental Technology.
“The decision followed the administration’s desire to ensure that the teaching hospital of the institution takes off effectively.
“The establishment of the new faculties will enable the university to enroll more students and aid government’s commitment toward ensuring more expertise in technology and increase the number of health personnel,” he said.
Tambuwal assured the vice-chancellors of a robust synergy with Usmanu Danfodiyo University, even as he congratulated Prof. Bilbis on his emergence as the substantive vice-chancellor of the state university.
The two vice-chancellors lauded Tambuwal for his dedication towards ensuring a sound education plan in all the institutions in the state.
