The police on Thursday arraigned three tenants, for allegedly pouring ”sniper” (an agro-chemical) into a co-tenant’s cooking water in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Sade Gbadamosi, 39, trader; Omowunmi Aina, 42, housewife; and Rahman Balogun, 45 male, and a trader, who all live at Oke-Odo, Abule-Egba, Lagos, are charged with conspiracy, breach of peace and assault.
The Prosecution Counsel, ASP Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court the defendants committed the offence on May 3 at their residence.
Ayorinde alleged that the defendants conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause breach of peace by pouring the chemical into the cooking water used by Mrs Munirat Idris.
The defendants, he said, made life unbearable for the complainant over undisclosed reasons.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 168, 173 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that section 173 prescribes three years imprisonment for assault while section 411 attracts two years for conspiracy.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate B.O Osunsanmi admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
Osunsanmi ordered that all the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of two years tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
She adjourned hearing in the case until Sept. 29 .
