The Tanzania Football Federation has received over 100 applications from foreign coaches as they intensify efforts to replace sacked former Taifa Stars coach, Emmanuel Amuneke.
Amuneke, a former Nigeria international was relieved of his post following the Taifa Stars poor showing at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The East Africans failed to record a win in the competition losing all three group games against Senegal, Kenya and Algeria.
Ettiene Ndayiragije, who handles local side, Azam FC was placed in temporary charge of the team by the TFF pending the appointment of a new head coach.
“We always want to appoint a local coach and for now, none of them has made an application,” TFF general secretary Wilfred Kidau told Mwanaspoti.
“But for sure the assistant coaching positions will be filled by the local lads as they will be of great need in helping the new coach familiarize with the new environment and understand the players.
“In the recruitment process, we will consider quite a lot of things from the over 100 candidates who have already applied for the job. We hope to get the best one from them.”
