Maiduguri, Borno state capital is under siege again. Gunmen suspected to be members of the Islamist sect, Boko Haram have attacked a military barracks, Giwa barracks in the City.
Eyewitness says three loud explosions were heard in different part of the Cit, including the University of Maiduguri.
Prompt News Online also learnt that guns and bombs are being used. The insurgents dressed in military uniforms were said to have access the Giwa barracks through a nearby 202 Estate.
However, details about the attacks still ongoing as at the time of filling this report is still sketchy.
In spite of declaration of a state of emergency in May last year by President Goodluck Jonathan, frequent attacks have not abated.
Of late, there have been renewed attacks in the three states- Borno, Adamawa and Yobe under emergency rule.
The latest being the killing of students in a Federal Government College in Yobe.
