Nigeria’s Super Eagles will avoid the continent’s big guns in the qualifying series for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon after they were placed in the same pot by the Confederation of African Football.
Gernot Rohr’s men are among the top seeded teams for the competition along with Senegal, Morroco, Tunisia, Ghana, Democratic Republic and Egypt.
Other top seeded countries include; Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Mali and Burkina Faso.
In Pot two are; Guinea, South Africa, Cape Verde, Uganda, Zambia, Benin, Gabon, Congo, Mauritania, Niger, Kenya and Libya.
Pot three has Madagascar, Zimbabwe, central Africa, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Angola, Malawi, Togo, Sudan and Tanzania.
Pot 4 is made up of Burundi, Rwanda, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Comoros and Ethiopia.
In the last pot are; Liberia, Mauritius, Gambia, South Sudan, Chad, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles and Djibouti.
Four countries will be placed in each group (12) with the first two teams proceeding to the competition in Cameroon.
The draw ceremony will take place on Thursday at the Aida Ballroom, Cairo Marriott Hotel, Zamalek.
