Sammy Ameobi Pens One Year Contract With Nottingham Forest
Sky Bet Championship club, Nothingham Forest have announced the signing of Nigerian born winger Sammy Ameobi on a one-year contract.
Ameobi, 27, joins The Reds having left Bolton Wanderers at the end of last season.
The winger who is Nottingham Forest’s first summer signing says he can cannot wait to play his first game for the club.
“I’m very happy. Obviously I know the history of this club, it’s a really great club and I’m happy to be a part of it moving forward,”Ameobi told the club’s official website.
“I’ve played against Forest a few times recently and I know the quality of the players here. The stadium is also a fantastic place to be so that was a massive attraction and a reason for me moving here.
“I’m hoping to excite people. I’m a player who likes to create opportunities and score goals so hopefully I can do that this season. I’ve had my holidays, I’ve come back fighting fit and now I’m raring to go.”
Ameobi started his career at Newcastle United, making 70 appearances for his hometown side, and enjoyed loan spells at Middlesbrough, Cardiff City and Bolton, with his move to the latter being made permanent following their promotion to the Championship in 2017.
His elder brother, Shola, was part of Nigeria’s squad to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
