In accordance with the rule of the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA), Nigeria’s Super Falcons have been decamped after crashing out of the 8th FIFA Women’s World cup final in France.
The Nigerian delegation made up of 23 players, coaching crew, backroom and administrative staff started leaving the FIFA official hotel at Mercure President Hotel in Grenoble.
Some of the team’s expatriate coaches were among the people who left Grenoble on Saturday night to catch their flights back to their countries of origin.
First assistant coach, Jorgen Peterson and two other Swedish members of the Falcons technical bench also left last night the camp.
But the players and other officials loaded their big luggages into a truck last night which left Grenoble early Sunday morning for Paris ahead of the passenger bus.
Some of the players returning to Europe and other overseas countries either caught their connecting flights from Lyon International Airport, Lyon while the bulk of the team travelled to Paris to board flight to Nigeria.
Although the players delayed their departure from Grenoble due to a breakdown in communications between them and team officials, everyone including the three Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Board members left Grenoble in a friendly mood.
The board members are Chairman Finance Committee, Hon. Suleman Yahaya Kwande; Bornu state FA Chairman, Alhaji Babagana Kalli and Chairperson of NFF Women’s Football Committee, Ms Aisha Falode as well as NFF Head of Women’s Football Unit, Miss Ruth David;
Chief Legal and Integrity Officer; Barr. Okey Obi; Asst. Director, Technical, Yusuf Abdulrafiu and SA to NFF President on Women’s Football Affairs, Harry Awurumibe.
Nigeria was on Saturday defeated 3-0 by Germany in the Round of 16 tie at Stade des Alps, Grenoble.
