Injuries to first team players and card offences combined to halt Nigeria’s progress in the on- going 8th FIFA Women’s World final in France.
Defender Faith Michael was injured out earlier in the completion
and poster girl, Asisat Oshoala suffered a hamstring injury in the tough tie against France while card offences combined to halt Nigeria’s progress in the competition.
Ace left- back, Ngozi Ebere and veteran midfielder, Rita Chikwelu were ruled by red and two yellow cards, a situation that warranted Head Coach Thomas Dennerby to ring a change and these changes did not yield the needed result.
The coach had brought in Evelyn Nwabuoku to the left back in place of Ebere and Chinwendu Ihezuo to replace Chikwelu while Uchenna Kanu took the position of Oshoala on the day.
This situation distorted Dennerby’s game plan and the end result was the uncoordinated play of the team and the 3-0 loss to Germany at Stade des Alps in Grenoble today..
This was majorly why the team could not find its rhythm against a very tough team like Germany.
