Super Falcons forward, Asisat Oshoala, was awarded the woman of the match in the Nigerian team’s 2-0 win over Korea – their second Group A match of the ongoing 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Oshoala sealed Nigeria’s win with a goal from a sublime effort in the 75th minute after Korea Republic’s Kim Doyeon netted an own in the 29th minute.
Oshoala left the pitch for Uchenna Kanu in the 83rd minute, and the spectators appreciated his contribution with loud applause from across the terrace.
The Barcelona Ladies forward expresses her delight with the win, and believes that Group A is wide open going into the last round of games.
“At first, I think we were a little bit scared of losing and going out. But after a while we just decided to go for it. I always say that I’m never under pressure – I just go on the pitch and do my job. It’s an 11-player game and I just look to enjoy the game, have fun and do the right thing for my team,” Oshoala told Fifa.com in a post-match interview.
“The group is wide open now. We just have to concentrate now on making sure we get the points we need against France.”
The Super Falcons and France will clash in their last Group A match on Monday, June 17 at 8pm Nigerian time.
