Former Spokesperson of Afenifere and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Ekiti State, Dayo Adeyeye has described figure being publicised by the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s registered members in Ekiti State as part of its cover-up plans for its planned rigging of the June 21, 2014 governorship election.
Adeyeye, who said it was funny for the APC to claim that it has registered over 300,000 members in Ekiti State, challenged the party to publish full details of the people it claimed to have registered.”
In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti today, and signed by the Director General of Prince Adedayo Adeyeye Movement (PAAM), Bisi Kolawole, the governorship aspirant said; “Instead of thinking about rigging the June 21 governorship election, the Kayode Fayemi led government should be preparing its handing-over notes.”
He said; “Is it the pensioners whose pension and gratuity are not being paid that will vote for APC? Is it the teachers that are being harassed with forced competency test or local government workers who are being threatened with sack that will vote for Fayemi?
“What they want to achieve with the bogus figures they have been releasing on their party’s membership registration is simple, they want to use it as a cover-up for their rigging plans.
“For instance, if their plans to manipulate the election results work out and they award say 400,000 votes to their party, they will simply come out to say that their party members, who should naturally vote for them are more than 300,000, so it is not out of place for their party to have 400,000 votes.
“However, if the rigging plans fail and PDP wins the election, they will use the same figure to discredit the election results by claiming that their party could not have had less than 300,000 votes because their members, who should naturally vote for the party are more than 300,000.”
While vowing that the APC rigging plans will fail, Adeyeye said; “They should begin to prepare for the election tribunal because their rigging plans won’t work and if they like, let them increase the imaginary number of their registered members in Ekiti State to two million, they will also meet us at the tribunal this time around.”
