Enugu Rangers bounced back from their opening day loss to oriental rivals, Enyimba by beating champions Lobi Stars 2-1 in their Nigeria Professional Football League Championship play-offs tie at the Agege Stadium on Thursday.
Rangers dominated the opening exchanges and scored the curtain raiser through Godwin Aguda in the 13th minute.
Chiamaka Madu doubled the Flying Antelopes advantage in the 28th minute dribbling past Ospino Egbo before slotting the ball into the net.
Sikiru Alimi pulled a goal back for Lobi Stars a minute before the hour mark following a beautiful cross from his strike partner Samad Kadiri.
It was Alimi ‘ s second goal in the Championship play-off.
Lobi Stars were however unable to find the all important equalising goal going down to their first defeat of the competition.
Six – time champions, Enyimba and Kano Pillars will clash in the day’s final fixture.
Earlier in the day, Akwa United beat FC IfeanyiUbah 2-1 to record their first win of the Championship play-off.
