ACCRA – Mrs Margret Kikelomo Abikoye, Wife of Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana, on 2nd June, led other Nigerian women to mark 2019 Children’s Day celebration in Accra.
The celebration with the theme “End Malnutrition, Protect the Future of the Nigerian Child” was held at the residence of the High Commissioner, Ambassador Olufemi Abikoye.
The colourful event brought together children and wards of home based officers, local staff as well as children of Nigerians based in Ghana including children with challenges and homeless.
Welcoming the guests, the High Commissioner, Amb. Michael Olufemi Abikoye, appreciated the children as well as the various schools, homes and others that came for the celebration.
He admonished the children to study very hard, always be of good behaviour, do great exploit to always make their parents, guardian and community at large to be proud of them.
In her closing remarks, the initiator, coordinator, and the spouse of the High Commissioner, Mrs M.K Abikoye appreciated the full support her husband, Amb. Michael Olufemi Abikoye as well as Nigerian Women in Ghana, Home based Officers as well as Nigerian Union of Traders Association, Ghana (NUTAG) for their continuous support which had made the event a success.
She thereafter donated food items such as bag of rice, indomie, spaghetti, salt etc. to the homes and schools.
The event was attended by students from New Horizon Special School, Dzorwulu Special School, Noyaa Academy home amongst others.
