The Congress of the Nigeria Nationwide League One has endorsed Thursday, May 23 as kick-off date for the 2018/2019 season.
According to a communique issued at the end of the congress meeting in Abuja on Thursday, it also endorsed the league format used for divisions 1-3 approved by the NLO board for the 2018 season.
The Congress also directed the Secretariat to put all machinery in motion to ensure that from 2019 season, all the players in the Nationwide League One should have a legal representation and that all the clubs should endeavor to register their clubs on TMS, this will enable the clubs to secure their investment on their players and guide against poachers.
Here is the full texts of the communique issued at the end of the congress. ..
1. The congress appreciates His Excellence, Hon Nasiru Gawuna Deputy Governor of Kano State for the support given to the Nationwide League One and accepting to be the League Patron, and all the Guest of Honour most especially Hon. Faruk Yabo, Barr. Danladi Issac (President Club Owners Association).
2. The Congress Commended the Nigeria Football Federation for their continuing efforts to reposition Nigeria Football.
3. The congress endorsed that the 2018/2019 NLO Football season should Kick-off from Thursday May 23, 2019.
4. The Congress endorsed the League format used for divisions 1-3 approved by the NLO Board for 2018 season, and should be maintained by the secretariat. (The Board should work on amending the relevant section in the rules and regulations).
5. The Congress directed the Secretariat to put all machinery in motion to ensure that from 2019 season, all the players in the Nationwide League One should have a legal representation and that all the clubs should endeavor to register their clubs on TMS, this will enable the clubs to secure their investment on their players and guide against poachers.
6. The Congress passed a vote of confidence on Alhaji Mohammed Alkali led Board and the Secretariat headed by Mr Olushola Ogunnowo as evidence in the visible transformation and future assurance of big investors working with the league, Consequently the entire congress approved another four (4) years tenure for the Board.
