Former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Mrs. Biodun Olujimi has described as untrue, allegation that she was working against the agitation by the South Senatorial District of the State to produce the next governor by fronting for a People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant from another zone.
She stated; “I hereby state categorically that I am both a financial and physical supporter of the South Agenda. I have done all humanly possible to support the vision. Therefore, I can’t be against it.”
In a released she personally signed and made available to journalists on Tuesday, Olujimi called on PDP governorship aspirants from the Southern Senatorial district to make the job of getting the party to pick its candidate from the zone easier by coming up with a candidate from among themselves.
The statement reads further, “My attention has been drawn to publications in the newspapers and on the social media by a group identified as Ikere PDP Youths Movement.
“The publications alleged that I aspire to become a minister and in addition that I have been fronting for a particular aspirant for the governorship. These activities they alleged were to scuttle the Ekiti South Senatorial District Governorship Agenda (EKSSDGA).
“I hereby state categorically that I am both a financial and physical supporter of the South Agenda. I have done all humanly possible to support the vision. Therefore, I can’t be against it.
“Only in December, 2013, I attended the fundraising for one of the aspirants from the South, which was held in Lagos, and my position was widely reported in the media.
“Until the emergence of a candidate, I will continue to operate open doors to all aspirants and will despise no one.
“On the alleged aspiration for a ministerial position, I am a politician with the fear of God. I know and I also believe that the design of God for us is not by our strength, it could only be by His grace. I have always trusted God for the appointed time for me in everything. As at today, I have not made any effort on any ministerial appointment.
“Finally, I will advise again that all the Ekiti South Senatorial District aspirants should come under a banner to pick one of their own to make our choice feasible and realistic. It is the only way to salvage the marginalisation of the zone.
“I will however advise my younger ones in Ikere not to allow themselves to be used against the elders. I am one of you today, and will remain one tomorrow.”
