Nigerian-British born striker, Chioma Grace Ubogagu has been named in the England squad for next week Friday’s top of the bill pre- FIFA Women’s World Cup, France 2019 international friendly match against Canada.
The Londoner who plays club football with Orlando Pride FC in the United States of America but now on loan at Brisbane Roars in Australia has been selected alongside six other strikers by England’s Head Coach, Phil Neville for the tough game against Canada on Friday, April 5 in London.
Ubogagu whose grandfather Austin Eneuke from the South East of Nigeria and who was said to had played for Nigeria and Tottenham Hotspur of England had earlier represented USA at the Under 18, 20 and 23 football competitions.
Chioma meaning “Good God” in Igbo language was a FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup winner with USA in 2012. She started Collegiate football at Stanford University USA from where she joined professional clubs like Arsenal Ladies, Houston Dash and Orlando Pride before linking up with Brisbane Roars in Australia.
She is a good addition to England which is still celebrating their victory over World Cup defending champions, USA recently in SheBelieves Cup. She will also be in the team when England hosts European champions, Spain on April 9 to put the team in shape ahead of the World Cup final in France this summer.
Meanwhile, Ubogagu will play against her father’s country should both Nigeria and England make it all the way to the knockout stages of the global football fiesta in France.
