By: Our Correspondent Light House Resort Akwanga, belonging to Nasarawa State Interim Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Stanley Buba, was on Sunday burnt down allegedly by angry youths.
Some parts of the resort were seen burning when our correspondent visited the scene.
Prompt News gathered that the hotel was burnt down by angry mobs who were protesting the result of the party’s primaries in Akwanga Local Government just released.
The ruling party in the state, APC last week held primaries across the state ahead of the conduct of Local Government election billed for March 22.
An eye witness told our correspondent on condition of anonymity that the youths in their
hundreds came and set the hotel ablaze in the early hours of Sunday.
According to the witness, the youths were reigning abusive words on the APC, alleging manipulation of the primaries.
“They said that he (chairman) changed the names of those that were voted during the primaries by putting names of his boys who were not elected.
“The youths also swore to take legal action on the injustice meted on them or dump the party for the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),” the source said.
The youths alleged that one Emmanuel Lawen was declared winner in place of Hassan
Gwamna, who was widely believed to have won the primaries in Akwanga local government area.
The police in the area said they were investigating the incident, while the proprietor of the hotel could neither answer calls nor reply to text put through to him by our correspondent.
As at press time, the extent of damages done to the hotel has not been determined.
