KANO – Barely 48 hours to the presidential and national assembly elections, supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday, clashed in Kofa village, Bebeji Local Government Area of Kano state.
Eye witness told NAN in Kano on Thursday that the incident occurred around 2:00 p.m.
According to the witness, the incident occurred when Sen. Rabi’u Kwankwaso was passing through the village en route Bebeji town.
It was gathered that trouble started when the PDP supporters who were traveling in their campaign vehicles met some APC supporters that organised prayer session for peaceful election in the village.
It was also gathered that no fewer than 15 vehicles belonging to the PDP were destroyed during the fracas.
However, there was quick intervention of the security personnel that were drafted to the area that saved the situation from degenerating into a serious political crisis.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna, who commented on the incident, said security personnel had been deployed to the area and that the situation had since been brought under control
Haruna, however, said the command had yet to get details of the clash.
NAN reports that no fewer than 10 persons were injured during the Incident.
