The Federal Government has declared Friday 22ndFebruary 2019 as Work-Free Day to enable Nigerians prepare for the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly Elections on Saturday 23rd February 2019.
However, the Work-Free Day excludes workers providing essential services such as Banks, Hospitals, Airlines and Security Services amongst others.
The Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Abdulrahman Bello Dambazau who declared the Work-Free Day on behalf of the Federal Government enjoined Nigerians to keep faith with the Nation’s electoral system.
The Minister urged Nigerians to utilize the Work-Free Day to travel to their various polling centres to exercise their civic responsibility of voting for candidates of their choice.
Dambazau reassures Nigerians and international observers of the safety of lives and property during the elections as security agencies have been directed to remain vigilant and conduct themselves professionally throughout the exercise.
