The Director General, Bureau of Public procurement (BPP), Mamman Ahmadu, has declared that due process is a welcome development that will help Nigeria achieve its set objectives with the public procurement reform.
Speaking while receiving a delegation of Edo State Public Procurement Agency (ESPPA) delegation on a weeklong study visit to the BPP in Abuja, the DG stated that collective growth “is what can sustain our development as a nation and only due process through public procurement can deliver that result”.
He reiterating the fact that the visit of the ESPPA will further consolidate the relationship of the States Procurement Agencies with that of the Federal “so that we all can be on the same page in the reform”.
According to a statement by BPP’s Chief Press Secretary, Segun Imohiosen, the DG noted that the right choice is to uplift many in the country, emphasising that the public procurement process in line with transparency and accountability will change the narrative in this dispensation.
Ahmadu therefore charged the players to help Nigeria reach its desired goal by way of treading the path of good governance just like other climes.
The DG noted that the thought behind the establishment of BPP is a laudable idea aimed at that the salvaging Nigeria from the throes of corruption.
Responding, the MD/CEO of ESPPA, Henry Imogiemhe Idogun, explained that to build capacity and deepen the procurement process by synergising with BPP “is the right thing to do in order to prevent corruption in the country”.
He said ESPPA has a robust E-Procurement Unit (E-Registration) as it upholds the spirit of transparency which is the hallmark of due process which allows for minimal human interface.
