The leadership of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide on Tuesday, alleged that the south east politicians are only deceiving the presidential candidates of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, especially as the 2019 general election approaches.
The group made this known in a statement issued by its President General Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro and made available to journalists, also disassociating themselves from the award given to governor Ganduje by some prominent Igbo leaders.
The statement reads in part: “We call on Igbo Youths and agitators to rise up and defend the Traditions, Values and Culture of Our people, as We will fight against those whose interests are to sell igbo votes to the highest bidder especially in Presidential election.
“Southeast politicians are deceiving both PDP Presidential candidates Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and President Buhari on Igbo Support, as all these politicians had lost grip of Southeast since they failed in 2015 to deliver Jonathan. Southeast is in the hands of Igbo Youth leadership
and Biafra agitators who had been rape of dividends of Democracy”
“We will not be part of the Charade that played out yesterday during the award ceremony to our Most Cherished Past and Present leaders, but the award to Gov Ganduje is the height immoralities in igbo land.
“Irrespective of the bribery allegation trending online, against Kano Governor Ganduje, we disassociate ourselves from this mockery and insult to igbo Nation, as those who are behind the so called award to Gov Ganduje will adequately be sanctioned accordingly, as those who
misled Ohanaeze leadership into this charade will be Punished.
“Igbo Day Celebration holds every September 29th Annually ,so what is going on in Owerri is not Igbo Day, but IMO State Day with the intention of deceiving Ndigbo and Nigerians.
“The apex decision making organ in Ohanaeze which is the Imeobi never approved the congregation of people meeting in Owerri. Ohanaeze Youths had pull out from the Owerri event and warn against setting a bad precedent for holding igbo day apart from September 29th as December 18, the is not a day set aside for Igbo day. Ohanaeze was deceived, and any decision taken is
not binding on Ndigbo” he stated.
