The Prelate of the Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim (ESOCS) worldwide, His Eminence David Bob-Manuel, has urged all political stakeholders to ensure peaceful conduct of the forthcoming general elections.
Bob-Manuel gave the advice at a news conference to herald the 2018 Annual General Conference of the church, entitled, “Position for Righteous Exploit.”
He enjoined President Muhammadu Buhari to use his good office to reinvigorate all the security apparatus to put a check on the numerous security challenges facing the country.
“Our dear country will be going into general elections from February through March, 2019. Already, there are palpable fears in the land, which should not be so.
“I call on the Federal Government, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), all political parties and politicians to ensure free and fair elections devoid of violence,” the prelate said.
Reacting to the recent killings of Nigerian soldiers by insurgents in Metele, Borno State, the cleric urged the Federal Government to probe the incident, especially claims that the soldiers were denied necessary weapons.
“On behalf of the members of ESOCS, I commiserate with the Federal Government, the Nigerian Army and Nigerians on the death of these gallant soldiers who paid the supreme price in the defence of their father land.”
Speaking on the theme of the 2018 conference, the clergy said that it was intended to realign members of the church, particularly its youths, towards holy and righteous living in all their life endeavors.
“We are at a defining moment where the ethos of our Christianity is being challenged by events, issues and happenings around our country and the world at large.
“This is the time for the church to re-awaken and re-engineer a revival; to focus on unity of purpose in propagating the gospel in order to win souls for Christ,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Baba Aladura David Bob-Manuel was installed as the Head of ESOCS worldwide and Moses Orimolade IX in September 2017.
