A Medical Practitional, Dr Tosin Adewole, says low-grade hemorrhoid can be treated with dietary changes.
She told News Agency of Nigria (NAN) on Saturday in Abuja that regular consumption of high-fiber foods, lots of fruits, vegetables and whole grains plus plenty of water would soften one’s stool and relieve symptoms of low grade hemorrhoid.
Hemorrhoids is inflamed veins in the rectum and anus which causes discomfort and when worsen, it bleeds, and the rectum becomes enlarged due to excess pressure.
Adewole advised that people should seek prompt medical attention when they noticed signs such as bleeding or change in bowel habits.
She added that “people suffering from this should seek advise from medical experts and not delay.
“No one should have to suffer through painful irritation because they are embarrassed to talk about it.
“Excessive anal vessel pressure can be caused by a variety of factors like pregnancy, extra body weight and strain from sitting, whether it is on the toilet seat or on chair.”
The medical practitioner, however, said that there were larger internal hemorrhoids that do not improve with dietary changes.
She added that this type of hemorrhoid must be treated with medication and sometimes surgery.
