There has been massive deployment of troops and anti-riot policemen to Wukari in Taraba State following violence that broke out in the town early Thursday.
It was learnt that the violence was caused by reprisal attacks by the youths in the town that apparently were fed up with incessant raids by suspected herdsmen who often attack their villages.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, confirmed to Channels Television that seven people have been confirmed dead during the violence.
He however assured that that the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has ordered deployment of anti-riot policemen to the town and surroundings, saying that the situation is under control.
Also, Taraba State Commissioner of Police, Kalafite Adeyemi, assured the residents of the town that the situation has been brought under control.
