3SC football club of Ibadan on Tuesday secured a back to back victory with a lone goal over perennial rival, Crown FC of Ogbomosho, in the final of the Oyo State AITEO Cup.
The Oluyole Warriors once again secured yet another win in the finals of the state FA Cup over the Ajilete Warriors, a repeat of the 2017 finals.
The Oluyole Warriors won the 2017 edition of the competition by defeating Crown FC in the final stage.
The Ajilete Warriors were, however, the one with the upper hands in the 2016 edition of the prestigious competition when they defeated 3SC to emerge the state champions.
The Ogbomoso-based team in 2016 had a fairy tale run to the semi finals stage after defeating Niger Tornadoes FC, Wikki Tourists FC and Rangers International.
This is a record yet to be broken after over a decade by any team in the state.
The team lost to FC Ifeanyi Uba at the semi finals of the 2016 FA Cup.
Enroute to this year’s final, Crown FC spanked Oyo Selected FC 3-1 at the quarter finals and humiliated Saki United in the semi finals 4-0.
The Shooting Stars also thrashed Pace-Setter FC 4:0 at the semi finals.
At the 2018 finals played at the Adamasingba Stadium, Ibadan, an early solitary strike by 3SC’s Ayobami Junior in the 4th minute settled the clash of the titans.
Speaking on the match, the media officer of Crown FC Olatunji Alabi praised the efforts of his team, adding that it was a well balanced game.
” It was a good outing for both sides in terms of tactics, fitness and technicalities
”The goal from Ayobami Junior settled the game, ” he said.
