The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has paraded 28 individuals, including a 55-year-old ex-convict, Ayodele Ijilakinro, who had just completed a three-year prison sentence for a similar crime.
Despite his previous conviction for sexual assault, Ijilakinro was arrested once again for engaging in criminal behavior.
Ijilakinro was presented alongside 27 other suspects arrested across Ondo State’s 18 local government areas over the past week.
The State Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, provided details about the suspects’ offenses, revealing that 24 were involved in various criminal activities.
Ijilakinro, who had been incarcerated for assault in 2021, admitted to several inappropriate encounters with women, some of which he described as consensual.
He confessed to forcing himself on others and explained that he had met some of his victims while traveling between Akure and Idanre.
Although released in February of the previous year, Ijilakinro’s criminal actions resumed, leading to his arrest.
He disclosed that he had taken women to hotels for food, drinks, and illicit activities.
Commander Adeleye reassured the public that, despite the arrests, Ondo State remains peaceful.
He emphasized that there had been no major incidents such as land disputes, labor unrest, or human trafficking.
However, he did mention one case of farmer-herder conflict and confirmed the arrest of three suspected kidnappers.
The Commander identified the alleged kidnappers as Akpan, Alimi, and Emmanuel, who were apprehended in Akure, Emure, and Ipeme-Owo, respectively.
Another individual, Adu Ojo, was arrested for ATM fraud, where he trapped victims’ cards and withdrew money from their accounts.
Other notable arrests included Mafo and Asara for conspiracy and assault, Idris Umaru for illegal grazing on a farmer’s land, and three suspected burglars—Oluwafemi, Francis, and Sunday.
Additionally, Lawal was arrested for stealing mobile phones and other equipment, while Ismaila Kazim was detained for robbing commercial motorcycle (Okada) riders.
Despite these incidents, the Amotekun Corps assured the public that Ondo State remains a secure environment for business and social activities.
Adeleye confirmed that the 28 suspects would undergo profiling, and those found guilty would be taken to court the following day.
