The National Industrial Court, Kano, has fixed May 27, for further mention in the case filed by 237 Secondary Schools teachers over their wrongly disengagement by the Katsina State Government.
The affected teachers whose contracts were terminated in December 2018, are praying the court to order the state government to pay their entitlements, gratuities and leave grants among others.
When the case came up for hearing on Tuesday the presiding Judge, Justice Ede Isele, fixed ay 27, for further mention following the absence of defendants in the court.
However, speaking to newsmen shortly after adjourning the case, counsel to the complainants, Mr Alexander Ugbede-Ajeodo said the claimants were all in court to show that they were aggrieved over the treatment meted on them.
He said that the suit was filed in line with the National Industrial Court Civil Procedure Rule 2017.
He said the affected teachers whose contracts were terminated in December 2018, should have been given three months notice or one month salary in lieu of notice.
“The teachers who worked for more than 20 years were denied December 2018 salaries after fully working for the month and even conducted examination and issued results to students.
”The defendants alleged that the claimants who are graduates and took aptitude tests and oral interviews at various times, were working with invalid credentials, a situation which shut them out for any employment,”he said. (NAN)
