Nigeria has been handed a big boost ahead of their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying double-header against South Africa and Benin Republic in June.
Forward Victor Boniface is expected to be available for both games which will boost the Super Eagles chances against the Bafana Bafana and Squirrels.
The 23-year-old missed the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after sustaining an adductor injury during Nigeria’s preparation for the competition.
The striker was pictured in training recently and Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso revealed he should be back in action again by next month.
“His (Boniface) development is very good; the recovery is going in the right direction. That’s very positive,” Alonso told Bild.
“We expect Boniface soon, I don’t know, but it won’t be until May, maybe April, and that’s very good for us, having Boniface back. Boni works very well, with great professionalism, twice a day. We need players who have the desire to be back.” READ ALSO:
