Super Eagles head coach Jose Peseiro has confirmed Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze will miss the side’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
Osimhen and Chukwueze picked up injuries in Nigeria’s friendly against Saudi Arabia last month.
The duo has been sidelined since then.
Chukwueze returned to training at AC Milan last week and is expected to be in action when Stefano Pioli’s side take on Paris Saint-Germain in a UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday (today).
Osimhen is however still recovering from the injury.
Peseiro said the two players will not be included in his squad for the games.
“Samuel Chukwueze and Victor Osimhen will not be called up during the next break; we want to avoid any risks,” Peseiro told TV Play, as per Milan Reports.
“I was very sorry for their injuries: the clubs pay the players, and we constantly collaborate with them.”
The Super Eagles will hosts Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo next week Thursday.
The encounter against Zimbabwe billed for the Huye Stadium will take place three days later.
