Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani on Wednesday in Abuja picked his Nomination Form to contest for the office of Governor of Kaduna state.
Senator Sani picked his Nomination Form at Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat, Wadata House in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja, in the company of his family members and supporters.
Speaking to Political Correspondents, Sani said he is prompted to contest for the office of Governor of Kaduna state to bring good governance to the suffering people of Kaduna state.
He also said the current security situation in Kaduna state will not be allowed to continue to fester hence he has decided to contest for the office of Governor in order to use his wealth of experience to combat the
leadership deficiencies in the governance of the state.
According to him, the present administration of Governor Nasir El-Rufai has mismanaged the state and has allowed insecurity to overwhelm him even as the people of Kaduna state have been the worst for it.
Senator Sani who is an author, playwright and a human rights activist is the President of the Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria (CRCN).
The Chairman of Hand-in-Hand, Africa, he was a leading figure in the struggle for the restoration of democracy in Nigeria. He has been arrested and jailed by successive past military regimes in Nigeria.
He contested and won the Kaduna Central Senatorial District on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) on March 28, 2015 but he later fell out.with the ruling party especially Kaduna state Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai.
He later decamped to the PDP and has been in forefront of canvassing for the end of insecurity in Kaduna state and the entire country.
Meanwhile, Prompt News reports that PDP National Secretariat at Wadata House, Wuse Zone 5 Abuja has been besieged by aspirants for the various elective political offices who came to purchase their forms.
The offices on offer are President, Governorship, Senate and Federal House of Representatives.
Aside Senator Sani who came to purchase the Governorship Nomination Form, aspirants from other states of the federation were seen buying their forms.
Aspirants from Katsina, Anambra, Gombe, Kebbi and other states were around to pick their forms.
