The new National Chairman of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Senator
(Dr.) Iyorchia Ayu has boasted that his political party is poised to produce the next President of Nigeria in 2023 even as he has assured that there will be no more imposition of candidates in the party for elective offices especially the Presidential ticket.
Senator Ayu also said that the PDP will reclaim the leadership of the Senate and Federal House of Representatives in 2023, adding that the party has what it takes to return Nigeria to her glorious days again.
Senator Ayu spoke on Sunday at a Special Thanksgiving and Homecoming Church Service held in his honour in Makurdi, Benue state to mark his assumption of office as the new PDP National Chairman.
According to Ayu the PDP is primed to wrestle power from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2023 General Election, pointing out that the party which ruled Nigeria from 1999 to 2015 has the required experience to lead Nigeria at a difficult time when insecurity has posed the greatest challenge eveŕ witnessed in the land.
Said he: “Nigerians are looking up to the PDP to rescue our dear country Nigeria from the maladministration of APC hence the PDP has taken up the challenge to rescue Nigeria in 2023. I am very confident that PDP will reclaim power in 2023”.
“I must add that PDP will also win the majority seats in the Senate and Federal House of Representatives in 2023 as well as win in more than 28 states Governorship Elections”.
The former Senate President used the occasion to give a snippet of how the Presidential candidate of the PDP in the 2023 General Election will emerge just as he insists that there will no longer be an imposition of party’s candidates for every elective offices in the future.
“I want to assure Nigerians that the PDP will present a nationally accepted Presidential candidate for the 2023 General Election. We are seriously working to produce a credible candidate and if the negotiations to have one voice fails, we will go to the field to elect our candidate”.
“We as a party is ready with our manifesto and programme which the President will execute as soon we get back to power unlike the APC which had no programme when the came to power in 2015”, Senator Ayu stated.
He however berated the ruling party in the way and manner its handling the running of the affairs of the country, accusing the APC government of non-performance in every sphere of the national life.
