The Super Falcons have made it clear they will boycott their opening game against Olympic champions Canada at the upcoming 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
According to PUNCH, the players made their intention known after the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) told them their match bonuses for the quadrennial competition had been cancelled.
The NFF are not willing to pay the Super Falcons match bonuses after the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) announced few months ago that each player would receive $30,000 at the competition.
FIFA disclosed that the money would be paid directly into the players account and not direct to the Federation.
The players are also entitled to receive 30% from the $1,560,000 FIFA allocated to all member associations for the group stage of the competition.
The NFF, according to the report is also not willing to pay the players that again.
To press home their demands, the Super Falcons are ready to boycott the game against Canada to address the issue.
The encounter is slated for Melbourne on July 21.
