For the umpteenth time, the former Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife has said that a Nigeria where everyone is treated equally no matter his or her ethnic group is possible just as he posited that a President of South East extraction in 2023 will unite Nigeria.
Speaking on Channels Television special programme ‘News Night’ on Monday, Dr. Ezeife also hinted of the birth of a new Igbo socio-cultural body called Ndi Ndu Igbo which will be populated by Igbo elders and opinion leaders from all walks of life.
According to the former Governor the Igbos are the true Nigerians because there are no part of the country where the Igbos are not residing to pursue their legitimate means of living, pointing out that they always settle quickly to contribute towards the development of their host communities.
Said he: “tell me where you will go in within Nigeria without seeing Ndigbo settle down, rent accommodation and start doing their legitimate businesses or providing services. Therefore, Ndigbo are true Nigerians unlike many people from other ethnic groups”.
Asked if he thinks that the political elites from other geopolitical zones will allow the Igbos to produce the next President of Nigeria in 2023, Dr Ezeife said ” power comes from God but we (Ndigbo) have been doing our homeworks, reaching out to our brothers from the Northern, Western and South South part of Nigeria to support us in 2023. Ordinary Nigerians from the other geopolitical zones want an Igbo to be the next President for equity, justice and fair play”.
On the widely held notion that the Igbos are not always united in the pursuit of a common goal, the former Governor dismissed such insinuations, saying that the Igbos are as united as never before in asking for the chance to produce the next President of Nigeria.
Said he: “Ndigbo are united as ever. In fact, whenever any meeting is called to discuss the affairs of Ndigbo, you will see a large number of the Igbos attending. Let me reveal that a new Igbo socio-cultural body called Ndi Ndu Igbo will soon be made public “
” This new body of Ndigbo will help to make the dream of a Nigerian where there will be no Almajaris and urban Talakawas. Nigeria is a great country and a Nigerian President of South East extraction will unleash the hidden potentials of the citizens. My prayer for Nigeria is for the resurrection of Nigeria”.
