Hope rises for a full house less than 24 hours before Nigeria’s Super Eagles leave for the 33rd African Cup of Nations (AFCON) which kicks off in Cameroon on Sunday as more players have arrived the team’s Abuja camp on Tuesday.
English Premier League (EPL) players are among nine foreign-based professionals who arrived the Super Eagles camp in Abuja.
The new arrivals include Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfried Ndidi of Leicester City FC; William Troost-Ekong of Watford FC; Alex Iwobi of Everton and Frank Onyeka of Bretford FC.
Others are Spain-based Kenneth Omeruo and Kelechi Nwakali; Semilogo Ajayi and Ola Aina ply their trades in Italy.
They all joined other squad members for the evening workout under the watchful eyes of Interim Coach Augustine Eguavoen and his assistants.
Prompt News however gathered that the rest of the invited players will arrive Abuja camp ahead of team’s departure aboard a chartered plane.
Still expected to join the camp as at press time are Jamilu Collins (SC Padeborn 07, Germany); Tyrone Ebuehi (Venezia FC, Italy); Joseph Ayodele-Aribo (Glasgow Rangers, Scotland); Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal FC, Spain) and Odion Jude Ighalo (Al-Shabab Riyadh, Saudi Arabia).
The Super Eagles will fly straight to Garoua, a small port city of Cameroon just by the Nigeria border town Adamawa state.
