The re-election bid of President Jonathan has suffered a setback in the south-west region of the country, as he has been advised to stay away from the region.
The advice was given in Lagos by the Coalition of Oodua Self-determination group (COSEG) after a crucial meeting, where issues of common interest to the country, especially the region was discussed and positions taken.
In the press release signed by the chairman and secretary of COSEG, Ifedayo Ogunlana and Rasaq Olokooba, the group stated that the president who enjoyed the support of the region in the 2011 election has failed the region.
According to the release ‘’ we have carefully x-rayed the candidates, contesting the 2015 presidential election next month, and from the situation of things, the incumbent president Goodluck Jonathan that was massively voted for by our people in 2011 has betrayed the confidence reposed in him.
Since 2011, he can’t reel out his achievement in the south west of the country under him, insecurity is the order of the day, unemployment of teeming youth continue to soar, corruption on the increase, oil theft unchecked and above all lack of vision for the country on his part’’
Continue “how or what do we use convince our people to vote a non-performer like president Jonathan it’s on that note that the senate of COSEG unanimously agreed that there is NO WAY for president Jonathan in Yoruba land.
The group posited that though his handlers have been wooing people with illegally acquired money, they maintained that the people will collect the money and vote according to their conscience, as ‘’our people can’t be fooled again’’
COSEG maintained that Nigeria at this crucial period in her history deserves a leader that is disciplined, forthright and patriotic to steer the ship to success and not a leader like Jonathan that promoted ethnic sentiment above national interest.
